Recently named one of the top ten healthiest fast-food chains by “Health” magazine, Corner Baker Café has locations in 11 U.S. states. If you can’t find one near you, you might want to watch for one on your next road trip. And when you stop here for refreshment, what should you order? Here’s what I recommend.
Bootcamper-Approved Menu Options
- For breakfast, try the Seasonal Fruit Medley. Consisting of “an assortment of the season's best and freshest fruits,” it contains only 90 calories and 0 fat grams.
- Of the Fresh Salads, I like the side of Asian Edamame Salad. It also has no fat and a mere 80 calories.
- Got a craving for Homemade Soup? Go for the Three Lentil Vegetable Soup. It’s got three grams of fat and only 140 calories.
- Of the Hearty Pastas, the Penne with Marinara is your best bet. It has 610 calories and 16 grams of fat though, so ask for a doggy bag and divide it in half. Skip the garlic bread too, which is not included in these numbers.
- Choose a Signature Sandwich over a Grilled Panini. Loaded up with fresh veggies, the Tuna Salad on Whole Grain Harvest will set you back 480 calories and 15 grams of fat, but you can always eat half and save the rest for later.
Two Items to Avoid
- Despite what you might think, watch out for the Hand-tossed Entrée Salads. Because they come topped with fatty dressings, none of them is a good Bootcamping choice. The worst of the worst? The Harvest Salad with Roasted Chicken, which has 900 calories and 61 grams of fat.
- The Pesto Cavatappi pasta is a bit too hearty. It’s got 40 grams of fat and a whopping 940 calories in a full serving, and that doesn’t even include the side of garlic bread.
