Have you watched in horror and sadness over the past several weeks as Haiti dealt with the aftermath of a massive earthquake that has left hundreds of thousands dead and countless others suffering? Wish that you could do something to help but think you don’t have the means or the money to do so? Well, maybe you do.

How much weight have you lost on the Bootcamping program? Enough to drop a few dress or pants sizes? If so, chances are you’ve got lots of clothes lying around that no longer fit. Some of them might even still have the price tags on them. That’s a goldmine of a charitable opportunity you’ve got tucked away in your closet and drawers! Here are some ways you can turn your Bootcamp success into a boon for the less fortunate as well:

  1. Donate them directly to charity. Haiti’s not the only country that could use a little help. With an unemployment rate in the double digits, putting food on the table and clothes on their backs is becoming an increasing problem right here in the United States, and around the world. The Salvation Army, for instance, is a charity organization with programs that include international aid, assistance to children and families, and disaster relief. So why not drop off your no-longer-worn clothing there?
  2. Sell them yourself and donate the proceeds to charity. If the weather is nice enough where you live, you could hold your own yard or garage sale. You might also drop them off at a local consignment shop, where you split the selling price with the storefront. But in this age of the Internet, even a blizzard doesn’t have to put a stop to your philanthropic endeavors. You can always list your items on eBay, where you’ll reach a global audience. The online auction site also affords you the ability to designate your auctions as charitable so that everyone who’s bidding knows their dollars will be going to a good cause.

And what if you haven’t yet lost enough weight to have a closet full of too-big clothes? Keep sticking to the Barry’s Bootcamp program and you soon will!
