Last Sunday I read an Associated Press article titled “Workout Convenience @ Home.” Subtitled “Keep the fun in functional when creating home gym,” it started off with the concept of making your workout space an inviting place to be. Obviously one of the keys to motivating you to want to work out every day is having a fitness space and activity that magnetically draws you to it.

Although a preferred paint color, good lighting, and a favorite home environment help, it’s not just about the décor and ambience. What you equip your home gym with is even more important to keeping you moving every day. To that end, the article went on to list the following five home-gym equipment must-haves. As you continue reading, see if you notice anything interesting.

  1. Strength-building: “You no longer need a cumbersome rack filled with different weights.” For instance, resistance bands are lightweight and easy to stow away yet help you build strength and muscle mass just like heavy and bulky dumbbells do.

  1. Cardio and Heart Rate: “Portable fitness options and small accessories can help you go the extra mile.” The article points to equipment that’s lightweight, compact and easy to store like a fold-away treadmill, or, I don’t know, maybe a blow-up transformer ball?

  1. Flexibility and balance: For example, “balance balls work your core.”

  1. Mind: “Work mind and body at the same time with a favorite interactive video.” One with a motivating personal trainer guiding you is a bonus, of course!

  1. Safety: “Give yourself enough space to extend your arms and legs.” Bringing big gym equipment into a small room can quickly take up all of the available space.

So did you guess it? That’s right! The Barry’s Bootcamp Complete Workout System covers every one of these home gym bases. Functional, fun and affordable, our system will likely keep you motivated long after the treadmill or elliptical trainer is covered in dust.
