Are you tired of the same old, same old for breakfast, lunch and dinner? When you hit the grocery store each week, do you head for the exact same foods every time? New products hit the shelves all the time, but it’s hard to keep up with what’s good for you and what isn’t. Yahoo! Food recently did all the hard work for you, highlighting “2010’s Best Guilt-Free Food Finds (So Far!).”
Turns out, just two months into the New Year and there are quite a few new food options at the supermarket that are super Bootcamper friendly. They include:
- Eat Smart Simple Noodles Grab n' Go Cups – Although most Ramen noodle cups make for a quick and cheap lunch, they’re fried, meaning they’re loaded with fat. Not so with these. Regardless of the variety, the calorie count stays under 250 and the fat count falls below 10 grams. As a bonus, they contain fiber and veggies.
- Quaker True Delights Instant Oatmeal – The perfect breakfast for those of you who need to get out the door quickly. Available in Blueberry Muffin and Hazlenut Latte varieties, you can get a taste of your favorite breakfast splurges without the extra calories and fat. At 150 calories and 2.5 grams of fat or less, you’ll also achieve that ‘4 grams of fiber at ever meal’ recommendation we made in our recent “Small Steps to a Sleek Physique” post.
- Gorton's Grilled Tilapia, Lemon Peppercorn – I know of a cardiologist who swears by tilapia for his heart patients. That’s because it’s low in fat (3 grams), low in sodium (even the packaged variety weighs in at a mere 260mg) and high on the heart-healthy protein. Plus, one serving filet contains just 80 calories!
- Fiber One 90 Calorie Chewy Bars – Let’s not forget the snacks, and who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter? At 90 calories, 2.5 grams of fat and 5 grams of fiber, this is about as healthy and tasty as snacking gets!
